J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS: Favre headed to NY

The New York Jets have made themselves a playoff contending team today after acquiring QB Brett Favre for a conditional fourth-round pick. The pick can become a first rounder if Favre leads the Jets to a Super Bowl. The Jets also released QB Chad Pennington after acquiring Favre saving them $6 million in cap space. Favre becomes the latest big name player to land in NY this offseason. QB Kellen Clemens will become Brett Favre's backup.
So what does this trade really mean? Well, the Jets have an extremely easy schedule and Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks of all-time. This makes the Jets a legitimate playoff threat. The only thing in Favre's way is the loaded AFC. The Patriots, Colts, Chargers, and Steelers look like division winners, so that leaves the Jaguars, Texans, Titans, Browns, and Broncos to likely contend with the Jets. Favre will not have the playmakers he had in Green Bay, but should make do with Laverneus Coles, Jerricho Cotchery, Thomas Jo! nes, and Leon Washington. G Alan Faneca and T Damien Woody were signed by NY and will be a big help to keep Brett Favre upright.
This trade came out of nowhere because we were all made to believe the Bucs were in position to land Favre. That all changed quickly when NY offered the conditional fourth-rounder, while the Bucs were having second thoughts about a 3rd rounder and QB Brian Griese. The Packers and Favre wanted this deal done ASAP, so the Jets won the sweepstakes.
The Jets are obviously big winners in this deal, but so are we because now we do not have to worry about constant Brett Favre updates every time we turn on the television. Aaron Rodgers now has his team, the only question is can he handle it. I am a bit skeptical because he could either use this as motivation or it could end him when his home fans continue to chant, "We want Brett!". Only time will tell how this whole situation works out for Favre, Rodgers, Green Bay, and the NY Jets.
